Cretan Wine

In Crete you can find Europe’s world’s most ancient, continuous and productive vineyard.

Those on holiday in Crete, in the northern main part of the island, will come across those vineyards, which coexist in harmony with the bushes and olive groves (although their common cultivation is not the norm, contrary to what happens in Italy).

Traditional local varieties of white Cretan wine, with a hundred-year history are: Vilana, Vidiano, Daphni, Thrapsathiri, Moschato Spina, Plito, Malvasia (Malvasia di Candia)

Red varieties: Kotsifali, Mandilari, Liatiko, Romiko (Marouvas)
